Behind the lens:

We had heard a storm might be moving in, but at the time it was just cold and dry without a speck of snow on the ground; a great day to go fishing. Several hours in we had a handful of nice fish in the net and returned to the truck to make coffee and warm up. As the sun began to set, small snowflakes began to fall and the wind picked up. Suddenly, within what felt like seconds, snow was accumulating on our hats and on the ground and we quickly realized we were in for a big one.

Being miles away from paved roads, the smart decision would have been to head for home now, but there were still fish to catch and images to create in these incredible conditions. In 10 minutes, the entire landscape changed from brown grass and blue skies to a gnarly whiteout.

Naturally, we donned our Princeton Tec headlamps as darkness settled in and returned to the river to create what you see above.
